Mobile Vehicle Refueling (Downstream)

There are seven million natural gas vehicles on the road and 10,500 refilling stations worldwide. And these numbers are growing at more than 30 per cent annually. (INGVA, 2007) There is scientific proof that adding hydrogen to natural gas can lead to significantly lower emission levels. Results from tests using 10% and 20% hydrogen by volumes have shown that HENG guarantees safe engine operation (no backfire nor knock) and achieves significant reductions in NOx emission, depending on the tuning of the engine. (Farrell, Keith, & Corbett, 2003; Munshi et al., 2004; Sierens & Rosseel, 2000).

A CarbonSaver™ unit could be added to existing natural gas refilling stations as pictured below, and shown on the demonstration video on the right. The use of existing infrastucture makes the switch to HENG for vehicle use substantially less costly.

A CarbonSaver could be "plugged in" to the front end of a typical CNG refuelling station.
