Carbon

The CarbonSaverâ„¢ removes carbon from the methane in natural gas as a co-product of the reaction. Carbon is an important industrial commodity used as a reinforcing agent in rubber compounds and as a pigment in printing inks, paints, paper and plastics. World consumption of carbon black is about 9 million tons, with most going to tire production. (Settings, 2006) Particle size structure and surface area of the carbon black determine what properties are realized in the final product. Different grades of carbon black meet the needs of specific manufacturing processes. Demand for carbon black has grown steadily in recent years following car and truck production. More recently, there is a growing demand for carbon black in specialty applications, such as a conductor of electricity.

Early indications are that the carbon generated within the CarbonSaverâ„¢ is high-quality nano-structured material. Atlantic Hydrogen is further investing the characteristics of the carbon in order to find markets for it.
